The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has officially set the stage for the opening round of their 2024 regular season. The matchups are set to kick off with heavyweights Ante Delija and Valentin Moldavsky headlining the first event on April 4 in San Antonio. The following week, fans can anticipate former Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion Phil Davis facing off against 2022 PFL champion Robert Wilkinson in a main event in Las Vegas. The opening-round matchups will conclude on April 12 in Chicago, with former Bellator champ Andrey Koreshkov and PFL standout Magomed Umalatov taking the spotlight.
PFL’s acquisition of Bellator in a landmark deal has resulted in its deepest roster ever for regular-season events. Exciting matchups are not limited to just the main events, with Bellator champion Liz Carmouche set to face Juliana Velasquez for the third time on April 4. On the April 12 card, fans can look forward to veteran PFL lightweight Clay Collard going up against Patricky Pitbull and former PFL middleweight champion Sadibou Sy making a move up to the 205-pound division to meet Josh Silveira. Additionally, Brendan Loughnane, who claimed a featherweight championship in the PFL in 2022, will be taking on Pedro Carvalho on April 19.
Notably absent from the announcement is 2023 PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira. Ferreira, who famously knocked out Bellator champion Ryan Bader in a special pay-per-view event last month, has made the decision to sit out the 2024 season. Instead, he is opting to wait for a pending matchup against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, who recently suffered a knockout loss to Anthony Joshua in his second professional boxing appearance.
The PFL’s 2024 regular season is shaping up to be an action-packed series of events filled with exciting matchups and intriguing storylines. With a deep roster and notable matchups across all divisions, fans can expect high-level competition and unforgettable moments in the upcoming season.
