Shakur Stevenson Responds to Critics and Rival Ryan Garcia

Shakur Stevenson recently faced criticism for his lackluster performance against Edwin De Los Santos during their WBC lightweight title fight. Many fight fans found the match boring, and even popular boxer Ryan Garcia expressed his disappointment. In an interview with Fight Hub, Garcia not only criticized Stevenson’s performance but also his overall attitude.

Garcia made it clear that he finds Stevenson to be arrogant both inside and outside the ring. He mentioned an incident in Las Vegas where he felt Stevenson was rude and disrespectful. Garcia expressed his frustration, stating that Stevenson has been walking around as if he’s invincible since his amateur days, which greatly annoys him.

Following his critique of Stevenson’s personality, Garcia went on to discuss the recent fight. Garcia didn’t mince his words, stating that Stevenson “didn’t fight good at all” and that he appeared scared. The lack of excitement and action during the match left Garcia unimpressed with Stevenson’s abilities as a fighter.

Stevenson took to social media to respond to the criticism and accusations made by Garcia. In a tweet, he denied being arrogant and called out Garcia and others, saying, “my bad nights I win on yo bad nights u lay down from a body shot and get up after the 10 counts.” Stevenson aimed to defend his boxing record and highlight his victories, claiming that he has achieved more in terms of world titles and weight classes.

As is common in the world of boxing, this disagreement spilled over to Twitter. Garcia responded to Stevenson’s tweet, emphasizing the financial success and popularity he achieved in his superfight against Gervonta Davis. He also pointed out the record-breaking low number of punches Stevenson landed during his recent fight and the stark difference in their earnings. This Twitter exchange further intensified the rivalry between the two fighters.

Although Garcia may be more popular among fans, Stevenson argued that he has the stronger resume. He reminded Garcia that he won his third world title in a different weight class, suggesting that his accomplishments speak for themselves. Despite the negative feedback and ongoing rivalry, Stevenson made it clear that he is confident in his abilities and remains focused on his boxing career.
