Jack Della Maddalena’s UFC 305 Dreams Dashed Due to Infections

Jack Della Maddalena, an Australian fighter, was all geared up to compete in his hometown at UFC 305 in Perth. However, his plans were thwarted due to complications arising from arm surgery that was a result of an injury sustained during UFC 299. The fighter took to social media to announce that he has been battling multiple infections post the surgery, which has made it impossible for him to participate in the upcoming fight scheduled for August 17 at the RAC Arena.

Struggles with Infections Post-Surgery

Della Maddalena shared on Instagram the details of his ordeal, stating that soon after the surgery following UFC 299, his wound started splitting, signaling the onset of an infection. Subsequent surgeries were performed to address the issue, including cleaning of the bone and replacing the plate. However, the infections persisted, leading to abscesses that needed to be drained over a period of five weeks.

Following a forearm injury in a victorious comeback fight against Gilbert Burns, Della Maddalena was eager to face Shavkat Rakhmonov next. Unfortunately, his plans have been put on hold indefinitely until he can achieve a clean bill of health. The fighter mentioned that he is scheduled for another surgery in the upcoming week to address any remaining infected tissues before he can focus on returning to the Octagon.

Expressing disappointment over missing out on UFC 305, Della Maddalena emphasized the importance of prioritizing his recovery at the moment. His primary goal is to eliminate the infections from his body, allow his bone to heal, and eventually restore his arm to its full functionality. The fighter is hopeful that with successful treatment, he will be back in action within a span of 12 weeks.

Jack Della Maddalena’s journey to UFC 305 has been marred by unexpected hurdles due to post-surgery infections. While his participation in the event stands canceled, his focus on recovery and rehabilitation remains unwavering as he looks forward to making a complete comeback to the Octagon.
