Former Football Stars to Participate in Kings World Cup

The football world is buzzing with excitement as former Chelsea and Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has announced his return to the pitch for the upcoming Kings World Cup tournament in Mexico. This news comes alongside the revelation that Rio Ferdinand will also be involved in the seven-a-side competition, marking a star-studded lineup for the event. With the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimović and Neymar already confirmed to participate, the Kings World Cup is shaping up to be a must-watch tournament for football fans worldwide.

Hazard and Ferdinand are the latest additions to the Kings League, a competition initiated by former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué in Spain at the beginning of 2023. This league, which includes prominent figures like Sergio Agüero and Iker Casillas as presidents, focuses on blending the worlds of football and entertainment. Following the success of the Kings League in Spain, a new competition known as the Américas Kings League has been launched in Mexico, featuring a mix of streamers, content creators, and footballers from South America.

The Kings World Cup aims to bring together the best teams from the Kings League in Spain and the Américas Kings League in Mexico for a thrilling 32-team tournament. In addition to these teams, 12 wildcard entries from around the world will also compete for a chance to win the $1 million cash prize. Scheduled to take place between May 26 and June 8 in Mexico, the Kings World Cup promises to deliver high-octane matchups and exciting gameplay for both players and spectators.

Hazard, who shocked the football world with his early retirement from professional football last year, has decided to return to the pitch as part of Deptostra FC, a team led by Belgian streamer Céline Dept. On the other hand, Ferdinand will be heading his own team, Five FC, alongside content creator Jeremy Lynch. The tournament will also feature Neymar as a co-owner of Furia FC, one of the Brazilian teams, and Mario Götze as the overseer of Youniors FC, together with German TikTok star Younes Zarou.

The Kings World Cup introduces innovative rules that blend traditional football with video game elements, creating a unique playing experience. Matches are played in 40-minute seven-a-side formats, with special rules such as periods where goals count double and random dice rolls to determine player removal. While most teams consist of amateur or semi-professional players, team presidents have the opportunity to recruit professional ringers to enhance their squads.

As the Kings World Cup approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be a one-of-a-kind football tournament. With former stars like Eden Hazard and Rio Ferdinand returning to the pitch alongside current players like Zlatan Ibrahimović and Neymar, the competition is set to showcase the best of football talent in an exciting and entertaining format. Fans can look forward to dynamic gameplay, unexpected twists, and the thrill of seeing their favorite players compete in this groundbreaking event.
