Miami Dolphins running back, De’Von Achane, has been activated from injured reserve and is set to play in Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Achane’s return comes after a four-game absence due to a knee injury. Prior to his injury, the 2023 fourth-round pick showcased his talent and versatility on the field.
In Weeks 3 through 5, Achane made a significant impact, accumulating 460 combined rushing yards and seven total touchdowns. His breakout performance in Week 3 earned him the title of AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Achane recorded an impressive 233 total yards and four touchdowns, displaying his exceptional skills as a running back.
Achane’s Injury and Recovery
Following his strong performance against the New York Giants in Week 5, Achane was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury. Coach McDaniel described the injury as more of a sprain rather than a tear. While Achane could have potentially played through it with the aid of a knee brace, the team decided to prioritize his long-term well-being and exercise caution.
During his time on injured reserve, Achane continued to demonstrate his dedication to the team. McDaniel commended his work ethic and commitment, highlighting the positive impact he has had in the locker room. Achane’s return is expected to provide a significant boost to the AFC East-leading Dolphins as they enter the second half of the season.
In addition to Achane’s return, the Dolphins have also made a move to bolster their receiving corps. The team signed wide receiver Robbie Chosen to their practice squad and immediately elevated him to the active roster for Sunday’s game.
Chosen’s elevation comes as a response to the team’s need for depth at receiver. With Chase Claypool ruled out for the game due to a knee procedure and Braxton Berrios listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, the Dolphins recognized the importance of reinforcing their receiving options.
The Dolphins have not only faced challenges in their receiving corps but have also been dealing with injuries on the offensive line. Offensive linemen Rob Hunt and Robert Jones have been ruled out of Sunday’s game due to hamstring and knee injuries, respectively. These injuries further emphasize the importance of having a strong and reliable roster to navigate the demanding NFL season.
Looking Ahead
With De’Von Achane back in action and the addition of Robbie Chosen to the active roster, the Dolphins are positioned to face the Las Vegas Raiders with a renewed sense of confidence. Despite the hurdles they have faced with injuries, Miami remains the top team in the AFC East.
As the season progresses, the Dolphins will rely on Achane’s dynamic playmaking abilities and Chosen’s contribution to the receiving corps. The team’s overall depth and resilience will be put to the test, but if they can overcome these challenges, they have the potential to maintain their position at the top of their division.
