WWE’s NXT Battleground to Take Place at UFC Apex

WWE has recently announced a groundbreaking partnership with the UFC, revealing that NXT Battleground will be held at the UFC Apex on Sunday, June 9 in Las Vegas. This news marks a significant milestone as it will be the first WWE event to be hosted at this 130,000-square foot production facility. The UFC Apex is renowned for hosting high-profile events such as Dana White’s Contender Series, UFC Fight Night, and more.

According to a statement made by WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels to ESPN, the decision to bring Battleground to the UFC Apex is part of WWE’s ongoing efforts to explore new frontiers in showcasing NXT. The collaboration with the UFC has created an exciting opportunity to present NXT in a world-class production facility.

Background of the Merger

This upcoming event follows the merger between the UFC’s parent company, Endeavor, and WWE in creating TKO. While there has been some crossover between the two brands in the past, hosting NXT Battleground at a UFC venue marks a significant milestone in their collaboration.

Event Details and Talent Lineup

Originally scheduled to take place at the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia, NXT Battleground has been relocated to Las Vegas. The event will feature some of the biggest NXT superstars, including the likes of NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov, NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, NXT North American Champion Oba Femi, and many more. It is worth noting that the talent lineup may undergo changes due to the upcoming WWE Draft.

The UFC Apex typically accommodates smaller crowds of fewer than 500 people for its events. While the exact number of tickets available for NXT Battleground is yet to be announced, the venue’s capacity is expected to be increased. In a 2022 article by the Las Vegas Review Journal, it was reported that the UFC sought approval to host up to 1,000 attendees for events at the UFC Apex, along with offering food and alcohol services, ticket sales, and a souvenir shop.

By hosting NXT Battleground at the UFC Apex, WWE is taking its partnership with the UFC to new heights, providing fans with a unique and unforgettable experience. The event promises to be a spectacular showcase of talent, as NXT’s finest superstars compete on the grand stage of the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
