Kostyuk secured her place in the final by defeating Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-2 in the other semifinal match. This upcoming final will mark Rybakina’s fifth final appearance this season, following her successful title victories in Adelaide and Abu Dhabi. Reflecting on her progression, Kostyuk shared, “I came here on Saturday and I practiced four days before my first match, and really I was playing worse and worse with every day. I was like, ‘OK, time to play some matches because I don’t want to practice anymore.'” This final will mark Kostyuk’s third final appearance, having previously clinched her maiden title in Austin last year and finishing as the runner-up in San Diego last month. Notably, Kostyuk and Rybakina hold a 1-1 record in their career head-to-head matchups, making the final clash even more intriguing.
