Mark Coleman to Present BMF Championship at UFC 300

UFC president Dana White announced that Hall of Famer Mark Coleman will be presenting the BMF championship belt to the winner of the Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway fight at UFC 300. Coleman recently emerged from a coma after saving his parents from a house fire in Toledo, Ohio. After the rescue, Coleman was placed in a medically induced coma for three days before recovering.

Max Holloway referred to Coleman as the “real life BMF” and extended an invitation for him to attend UFC 300. Gaethje also supported the idea of having Coleman present the championship belt to the victor. The decision was made official during the UFC 300 news conference, with White immediately approving the suggestion to the excitement of the fans in attendance.

In addition to the presentation by Coleman, Dana White also announced an increase in fight night bonuses for UFC 300. The standard bonus of $50,000 was raised to an unprecedented $300,000 after the fighters on stage collectively agreed on the larger amount. This decision was well received by Conor McGregor, who commended the UFC for recognizing the fighters’ efforts with higher bonuses.

Milestone Bonuses in UFC History

The increased bonuses at UFC 300 surpass the previous record of $160,000 awarded to Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann for Fight of the Night at UFC on Versus 3 in 2011. While UFC 100 offered bonuses of $100,000, UFC 200 reverted back to the standard $50,000 bonus. The move to elevate the bonuses at UFC 300 represents a significant milestone in recognizing the hard work and dedication of the fighters in the promotion.

Overall, the announcement of Mark Coleman presenting the BMF championship belt and the record-breaking bonuses at UFC 300 demonstrate the UFC’s commitment to honoring its fighters and acknowledging their performances in the Octagon.
