As the MotoGP community prepares for the exhilarating 2025 season, excitement is creeping into the air with the scheduled unveiling of all eleven teams’ new bikes and liveries. Taking place in January and February, these launches will lead up to the much-anticipated season opener in Buriram, Thailand, on March 2. The extensive pre-season testing will also occur in Malaysia and Thailand, highlighting Southeast Asia’s significance as a burgeoning market for motorbike manufacturers. While many teams choose to showcase their innovations in Asia, some will opt for familiar European venues, and Trackhouse, an American team, has announced its launch event in North America.
Trackhouse intends to kick off the season’s unveiling cycle on January 14, making it the first team to present its 2025 MotoGP livery. With a solid foundation in NASCAR, Trackhouse is venturing further into the world of MotoGP as it enters its second season. The signing of reigning Moto2 champion Ai Ogura alongside the experienced Raul Fernandez promises a competitive partnership. After a major livery overhaul in the previous season, fans can expect another stylish redesign, particularly following the recent partnership with Gulf Oil.
Following closely on January 16, Aprilia will take the wraps off its 2025-spec RS-GP in Milan. This occasion will be particularly notable, as reigning champion Jorge Martin joins the squad along with race-winning rider Marco Bezzecchi. Enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting news about whether Martin will race with the coveted number one plate, a testament to his stellar previous season, or maintain his famous #89 branding. Aprilia appears poised to assert its presence in the upcoming season with a strong lineup and revamped aesthetics.
On January 18, Gresini will hold a launch event in Imola to reveal its 2025 MotoGP bikes. Alex Marquez will return for a third season, joined by newcomer Fermin Aldeguer. As both riders ride Ducati GP24 machines this year, the anticipation surrounding Gresini’s performance in the coming season remains high, especially with the Italian team’s rich history and reputation in the MotoGP paddock.
Ducati’s showstopper event is set for January 20 at the scenic Madonna di Campiglio ski resort. Returning champion Francesco Bagnaia and the newly acquired workhorse Marc Marquez will unveil the new Ducati GP25 livery. This presentation marks Marquez’s first official outing in Ducati gear, departing from the simplistic red suit he donned during testing.
KTM plans to showcase its updated RC16 on January 30 amid financial restructuring. Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta, who displayed remarkable talent in his rookie year, steps up to partner Brad Binder on the factory team. The livery is expected to maintain its tried-and-true theme, with Red Bull still in the driver’s seat as the team’s title sponsor.
Joint Launches and Sponsorship Shifts
Tech3 will join KTM for a dual launch, highlighting its revamped lineup boasting Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini. This change signifies a shift back to KTM’s branding from the previous promotion of GasGas, promising fresh visual motifs and performance hopes. Yamaha is also anticipated to make a notable appearance on January 31 at a prestigious event in Malaysia, showcasing its new M1 bike. Concessions granted allow them an extended testing window alongside their top riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins.
Meanwhile, newly partnered Pramac will display its fresh MotoGP lineup on the same day. Transitioning from a long-standing collaboration with Ducati to embracing Yamaha’s factory-spec M1, the Italian squad now welcomes Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller to their roster and will maintain its partnerships and sponsorship with Prima Insurance and Alpine.
On February 1, Honda will unveil its 2025 challenger in Jakarta, marking a historic break from a three-decade partnership with Spanish oil giant Repsol. The hybrid paint scheme unveiled last year is expected to give way to bold red, white, and blue colors, reflecting more of Honda’s corporate identity as it welcomes Castrol as a new sponsor.
LCR will present its 2025 bikes a day prior, showcasing two distinct liveries that cater to different sponsors. Lastly, Valentino Rossi’s VR46 remains the wildcard, promising a unique teaser from Indonesia that will keep fans on their toes.
Concluding the launch series is a special MotoGP event set for February 9 in Bangkok, where fans will get a firsthand look at all 22 riders and their 2025 machines. With free access to the public, this occasion promises to deepen the connection between fans and the sport in anticipation of a thrilling season ahead. As teams gear up for the upcoming challenges, the excitement is palpable on and off the track as MotoGP 2025 approaches.
